Chandigarh, 10th May 2026 : The 56th Annual Chithirai Thiruvizha 2026, organized by Chandigarh Tamil Sangam (South Indian Social Cultural Organization), was celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional fervor at Bharati Bhavan, Sector 30-B, Chandigarh.
The vibrant event brought together members of the Tamil community, cultural enthusiasts, and distinguished guests in a joyful celebration of Tamil heritage and traditions.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Member of Parliament Manish Tewari, who appreciated the Sangam’s continuous efforts in preserving and promoting Tamil language and culture in North India. Senior bureaucrat Arvind, IAS, along with several eminent personalities from various organizations, also graced the occasion.
The cultural segment of the event featured captivating performances by the cultural troupe of the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, and the renowned classical dance institution Lasya Kshetram. Their presentations added elegance and artistic richness to the celebration.
The audience was enthralled by a series of performances including Bharatanatyam, devotional music, folk dances, and cultural presentations by children and women. These performances beautifully reflected the vibrant and diverse traditions of Tamil Nadu.
Participants and guests highly appreciated the meticulous arrangements and the warm hospitality extended by the organizers.
The event was held under the leadership of G. Madhavan, IAS (Retd.), President of Chandigarh Tamil Sangam, and S.P. Rajasekaran, General Secretary, with the dedicated support of executive committee members and volunteers.
