Chandigarh, October 9, 2026: Rotary District 3080 has achieved a significant milestone in humanitarian service by securing two honours from the India Book of Records for organising the highest number of blood donation camps and mobilising the maximum number of blood donors in a single day. The achievements were recorded during the district-wide Raktdaan Mahakumbh held on September 25, 2026, when 90 blood donation camps collectively gathered more than 6,000 units of blood.

The landmark achievement was highlighted at ‘Utkarsh – 100 Days of Unstoppable Rotary 3080’, organised at the CII Auditorium, Sector 31, Chandigarh, to showcase the district’s accomplishments during the first 100 days of District Governor Dr. Rita Kalra’s tenure.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Kalra said the two national recognitions reflected the collective commitment, dedication and spirit of service demonstrated by Rotary members, blood donors, healthcare partners and volunteers.

“These recognitions belong to every individual who contributed to the success of Raktdaan Mahakumbh. This achievement is not merely about setting records or reaching a numerical target; it demonstrates the power of collective action and our commitment to Rotary’s principle of ‘Service Above Self’. Every unit of blood collected represents hope and the possibility of saving a life,” she said.

The Raktdaan Mahakumbh brought together more than 100 Rotary clubs, nearly 100 blood banks, partner organisations and thousands of voluntary donors. By collecting over 6,000 units of blood in a single day, the initiative surpassed the earlier benchmark of 3,400 units, marking a major step forward in community-led healthcare mobilisation.

The campaign was supported by extensive planning and coordination across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Eleven dedicated teams worked with Rotary clubs and blood banks to monitor activities and facilitate reporting. Geo-tagged photographs, blood bank certificates and donor records were compiled as part of a systematic verification process to establish the authenticity of the results.

100 Days of Service, Impact and Expansion

Beyond the record-setting blood donation initiative, Rotary District 3080 reported progress across membership development, vocational education, youth empowerment, environmental conservation, healthcare and community welfare.

The district registered one of the highest membership growth figures in Zone 4 India. Dr. Kalra was also recently recognised as a Social Impact Leader by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.

Strengthening public engagement and organisational communication, Rotary introduced the Rotary Basics Audiobook, published Rotary Marg Darshika and six Rotary books, and continued expanding its website, media outreach and digital communication initiatives.

In vocational education and livelihood development, more than 50 Hunnar and Rotary Vocational Training Centres are imparting employment-oriented skills to young people and women. The AI Champions initiative has equipped over 2,500 students with knowledge relevant to emerging technologies and future career opportunities. Driver-skilling programmes, micro-loans, job fairs and internships have further supported employment and entrepreneurship, with vocational initiatives reaching more than 5,000 young people across six states.

Environmental sustainability has also remained a key focus. Through Miyawaki forests, Nanovans, Oxy Walls and plantation campaigns, the district has supported the planting of more than one lakh trees and distributed over 30,000 moringa plants.

Healthcare and Community Welfare Remain Central

Rotary District 3080 continued its healthcare interventions through medical screening and eye-care camps, cataract surgeries, cleft lip and palate corrective procedures, and Project Aastha, which focuses on HPV vaccination and cancer screening. Nutritional support for tuberculosis patients has also formed part of its community health initiatives.

Under Project Annapurna, more than 200 service events have provided over 50,000 meals to people in need. Project Chetna has also been taken forward with a focus on menstrual hygiene management.

The Utkarsh celebration brought together Rotarians, partner organisations and community leaders for an evening of recognition, interaction and fellowship. The two India Book of Records honours emerged as a major highlight of the event, reflecting the district’s emphasis on measurable social impact and collective service.

District Secretary Deepak Gupta, District Executive Secretary Nalin Kapur, International Service Chair Dr. Sanjay Kalra and District Secretary Mohit Singla were also present on the occasion.

With its achievements spanning blood donation, education, livelihoods, environmental protection and healthcare, Rotary District 3080 has used its first 100 days to underline how coordinated community action can translate into meaningful public service. The district’s record-setting blood donation campaign stands as a defining milestone in this ongoing commitment to humanitarian service.
