Chandigarh : The Centre of Excellence in HIV Care at PGIMER, Chandigarh, successfully organized a Continued Medical Education (CME) Program- “3rd PGI HIV Update 2026” for resident doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff at the Lecture Theater Complex, PGIMER.
The program was attended by more than 300 participants from PGIMER, GMCH-32, NINE, General Hospital–Sector 16, AIMS Mohali, and private hospitals from the Tricity. The program aimed to update healthcare professionals on the latest advancements in HIV diagnosis, treatment, and management. The scientific sessions covered crucial topics of HIV testing, ART initiation, Post Exposure Prophylaxis, Prevention of parent to child transmission, and Malignancies in PLHIV. The faculty at the CME included senior consultants from various medical disciplines from PGIMER, GMCH-32 and AIMS, Mohali.
Prof. Sanjay Jain, Dean (Research) and HoD, Department of Internal Medicine, PGIMER and Prof. Vanita Jain, Sub-Dean (Research) and HoD, Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, PGIMER also attended the CME and chaired sessions on HIV testing and PPTCT. The CME began with a talk by Dr. Mahender Kumar, department of Immunopathology, PGIMER, on HIV, CD4, and viral load testing. Dr. Shankar Naidu, Deputy Program Director, CoE in HIV care, PGIMER took a session on ART initiation and Monitoring. Dr. Jasleen Kaur, Medical Officer, ART center, PGIMER spoke about Prevention of parent to child transmission (PPTCT).
Prof. Aman Sharma, Program Director, CoE in HIV care, PGIMER, deliberated on Post exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Dr. Ravinder Kaur Sachdeva, Senior Medical Officer, ART center, PGIMER, spoke about malignancies in PLHIV and ins tute experience on the same. The event was well ended, reaffirming PGIMER’s commitment to enhancing HIV care and education. The CME concluded with a vote of thanks and high tea, fostering further networking and collaboration among attendees.
