Chandigarh, February 7, 2026 : The Department of Neurology at PGIMER, in collaboration with the Indian Brain Bee and the Society for Neuroscience (SfN), successfully hosted the 17th Chandigarh Regional Brain Bee today at the Advanced Eye Center auditorium.
In a display of exceptional academic rigor, Tanvi from Sacred Heart Sr Sec School, emerged as the 2026 Chandigarh Brain Bee Champion. Continuing the trend of female excellence in the competition, she secured the top spot following a grueling series of oral rounds. Khanak from Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh, earned the title of 1st Runner-up while Mehtab Kamal Singh from Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, was named 2nd Runner-up.
20 elite 11th-grade students from across the Tricity competed, with 12 finalists selected through a written elimination round.
The event was presided over by Chief Guest Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, and coordinated by Prof. Dheeraj Khurana. The panel of judges included Prof. Rajesh Chhabra (Neurosurgery), Prof. Shubh Mohan Singh (Psychiatry), and Prof. Parampreet Singh Kharbanda (Neurology). The sessions were conducted by Dr. Kshipra Nilkanth, Senior Resident, Neurology.
The Regional Brain Bee, founded globally by Prof. Norbert Myslinski in 1999, serves as a three-tiered platform to inspire high school students to pursue careers in neuroscience. Competitors are tested on complex topics including memory, intelligence, stress, emotions, and neurological disorders.
As the regional winner, Tanvi will advance to the National Brain Bee scheduled for April 2026 in Bengaluru. The national champion will represent India at the International Brain Bee in Boston, USA, in July 2026.
