Chandigarh, January 29, 2026 :The Ice Hockey Association of India (IHAI) and the Ice Hockey Association of Chandigarh (IHAC) jointly organised a special felicitation and lunch ceremony at CGA (Pool Side) to honour the Chandigarh Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey Teams for their remarkable performance at the Khelo India Winter Games 2026 held in Ladakh.
At the prestigious national event, the Chandigarh Men’s Ice Hockey Team clinched the Silver Medal, while the Women’s Team secured a Bronze Medal, bringing pride and recognition to the city and the region.
The ceremony was graced by Gurpreet Singh Bakshi, President of IHAI and IHAC, and Harjinder Singh “Jindi”, General Secretary of the Ice Hockey Association of India. Both dignitaries congratulated the players for their dedication, discipline and outstanding teamwork displayed throughout the tournament.
Addressing the gathering, Gurpreet Singh Bakshi described the achievement as a proud moment for Chandigarh and Indian ice hockey, reiterating the associations’ commitment to nurturing talent and strengthening the sport nationwide. Harjinder Singh Jindi also applauded the teams for raising the standard of Indian ice hockey on the national stage.
The team coaches, Chetanpreet Singh and Gaurav Raheja, were also felicitated for their relentless efforts, strategic guidance and constant support, which played a crucial role in the teams’ success.
The ceremony concluded with words of encouragement, motivating the players to continue striving for excellence and to bring more laurels to Chandigarh and India in future national and international competitions
