New Delhi/ Prof Jitendra K. Sahu from PGI, Chandigarh honoured with “Dr. I. C. Verma Excellence in Research Award 2025

New Delhi / Chandigarh : Professor Jitendra Kumar Sahu, a renowned pediatric neurologist at PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been awarded the prestigious “Dr. I. C. Verma Excellence in Research Award 2025”. It is a National Professional Award bestowed by Indian Journal of Pediatrics to pediatricians under 50 years of age for outstanding research contributions.

Named in honour of Late Dr Ishwar Chander Verma (Padma Shree Awardee) who contributed immensely in the field of Pediatrics and Genetics in India. The award was felicitated at the Indian Journal of Pediatrics annual scientific day held on October 5, 2025 in AIIMS, New Delhi.
Prof Sahu , a leading expert in childhood epilepsy has published over 175 research publications/ articles in prestigious journals. He is one of the top researchers in the field on infantile spasms, nationally as well as internationally. Previously, he received the prestigious Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar: Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar” for the year 2024 in Medicine by the honourable President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu.
Dr Sahu expressed gratitude to all his mentors, colleagues, collaborators, students, and children with epilepsy under his care, and leadership of the department and Institute.
